EDITOR'S FORUM

The LiN Media Editor's forum is a body set up to assist the editors and the reporters. They meet four times a year to discuss industry problems and new as well as ongoing projects.

One of the advantages of the Editor's Forum is that they share information on a daily basis. The editors get to know each other and this makes it a lot easier to share information and ask for assistance when following up on leads.

The Editor's Forum very successfully tackled a number of consumer issues the past year and highlighted the market fluctuations in the different regions. The fact that the reporters can do comparisons across distribution boundaries makes for better quality analysis and ultimately better reporting.

The Editor's Forum successfully acted as a pressure group in the past to discuss practical problems with structures such as the SA Police and government departments.

The Editor's Forum is also instrumental to ensure the success of the LiN Media training programmes. Part of this programme entails the agreement with the Tswane University of Technology to provide practical training to their fourth year students. In 2011 LiN Media members provided internships to ten TUT students.
